This exciting event is made possible in part with the support of City Parent and The Oakville Beaver.

Every child is a star!  Glenburnie School is proud to present the Performing Arts Challenge Talent Contest on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.  Children from 5 to 13 years of age from all over the region are invited to compete in the 11th edition of this annual event.

The Performing Arts Challenge gets more exciting and competitive every year.  This year’s event features grand prizes of a four hour recording session at River 16 Studio, and a 45 minute private on-stage training session with Nathan McLeod of the YTV show Life With Boys.

This competition encourages budding young artists to discover the joy in personal expression and sharing their unique artistic vision.  Judges score each performance on both ‘Technical Merit’ and ‘Artistic Impression’ to determine the winners, letting each child know that her/his unique personality and spirit is important and valued.  At The Performing Arts Challenge, the next Leonard Cohen or Tom Waits can compete head-to-head with an up and coming Celine Dion or Luciano Pavarotti!

“For the past 11 years, this event has helped young talent discover and express their artistic voices,” explains event chair, Paul Carr.  “Spots are limited, and the most popular categories always fill up quickly, so we encourage families to submit their applications as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”

Each performer will receive personal feedback from the judges who come from the world of jazz, classical music, musical theatre, and television to bring a wide range of experience and viewpoints to the panel.

Instrumentalists, vocalists, dancers, and variety performers from all genres, styles, and backgrounds are invited to perform for the judges and compete for trophies and prizes.  The vocal division will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and the instrumental, dance, and variety divisions will follow at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Media and guests who are interested in attending are asked to contact Ms. Judie Roy, Head of Communications at (905) 338-6236.
