The Grade 10 Michael Smith National Science Challenge (named after Nobel Prize Canadian scientist Michael Smith), conducted by the University of British Columbia, took place in February. The 1-hour paper, covering all strands of science, is designed to challenge students’ logical and creative thinking skills, and the results are in! 1753 students across Canada took the challenge. Scoring in the top 3 per cent in the country: Matthew He and scoring in the top 25 per cent in the country: Sarah Fu, Shea Cardozo and Sachin Ahuja. Congratulations to these high-scorers who will receive their certificates at a grade band meeting in the near future.
