Over the March Break, six students and two faculty members travelled to China as part of the Upper One Intercultural Program. Students spent the first week at Bi Le Middle School in Shanghai, engaging in language exchange, art lessons and playing sports with local students. The cultural programming in the evenings included an acrobatics show, boat tour of the Huang Pu River and visits to local markets. The group then travelled to the ancient capital of Xi’an where they rode bikes along the city wall, visited the Terracotta Warriors museum and completed a service day at Xing Xing Home for Street Children. Next, the group travelled by sleeper train to the modern day capital of Beijing. Sightseeing included stops at The Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and Lotus Temple. It was a memorable and eye-opening trip for all!
