October 27, 2014 was election day and all members of the grade 10 Civics class took part as volunteers for the Oakville election. We were all placed at different polling stations and experienced new opportunities! Our day started off with the taking of an oath and setting up our table. By 10:00 am people began to arrive and begin the voting process. Our main responsibility was at the revisions table, where we got the chance to interact with voters and add, correct, or delete them from the voting list. At our station, we had a great turn out and we learned many new things about the election process including all of the preparation that goes into this long but important day! Thank you MacLachlan College for the opportunity to engage in this important part of our democracy!
