The “Oakville Christian School Service Council” is made up of student representatives from several grades and one staff member. They meet regularly to discuss service opportunities which help families both locally and world-wide.
Free The Children has launched a nationwide Penny Drive called “We Create Change” with the goal of raising enough money to provide clean water for 100,000 people. Just 2500 pennies ($25) provides clean water for one person for life!
Students began collecting pennies in January with a goal to raise 50,000 pennies by February 14. That goal was reached within two weeks, with enough pennies collected (62,500) to provide clean water for 25 people for life. Students continue to contribute and at last count had collected enough pennies to provide water for 38 people for life. That adds up to 95,000 pennies! Students will keep collecting until June 1st.
