On Tuesday, February 26, Appleby was honoured to welcome Elly Gotz, Holocaust survivor. Mr. Gotz delivered a moving presentation to Upper Two students about his experiences as a Jewish teenager during the Second World War in the Kovno ghetto (Lithuania) and at the Dachau concentration camp months before its liberation in 1945. In addition to recounting his gripping personal story, Mr. Gotz helped students understand the responsibility to strive for tolerance and to have the moral courage to act against injustice.
