On Sunday, April 21st, MacLachlan’s finest runners came out to Appleby College bright and early to help us defend our title as the Mercedes Benz 5K School Challenge champs. The School Challenge saw runners from 13 local high schools submit a team to take on the 5K distance. The organizers then tally the times for the top three runners from each school and the school with the lowest cumulative score wins the trophy, as well as $150 gift cards for the top three finishers!
The trophy we won last year is currently being engraved and will soon be back in its familiar place in our very own Honor Hall for the second year in a row.
This year, top spot for the MacLachlan runners was taken by Ben Haig, followed extremely closely by Owen Hanmer and Jacob Lee. Also representing the school and finishing with fantastic times were Rafey Sattar, Alex Simmons, Alex Smith and Ishan Aditya. This year’s Mercedes Benz 10K also saw the largest Mac staff contingent with Brad McFarlane, Keri Harrison, Leah Clarke, Tracey Granville, Ashleigh Woodward, Chantal Jabbour and Anastasia Corbett coming out and posting some amazing finishes.
Finally, our very own Salty Dog participated in the mascot challenge! Congratulations to all participants.
