The Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) has become a natural component of every aspect of the school culture at OCS. This is a research-based model with roots in gifted education.  The goal is to provide challenging high-end learning that is enjoyable for all students. This total school improvement tool has allowed us to keep our unique characteristics of community, discipline, and excellence.

This year, teachers have started using the Response to Intervention (RTI) framework and the Aimsweb assessment tools to identify students who are at-risk and then monitor and report progress.  The RTI framework integrates well with the SEM as both emphasize differentiation in order to help each student experience academic success.

Technological initiatives have allowed SmartBoards in each classroom.  A class set of MacBook Pro laptops are used throughout the school.  The computer lab and classroom desktops allow additional computer access.  iPads are used in the early years classes to allow JK and SK students to use technology.  Different online learning tools at each grade level allow students to connect learning between school and home.
