On November 24, Upper One student Alyssa Gaylard, Upper Two students Shaheer Abbasi, Riaz Mahmud and Rhys Nickerson, along with Senior Two students Nikhil Gowd and Albi Nani, participated in the Provincial Qualifier for Senior Debate and Public Speaking at Country Day School in King City. Nikhil and Albi competed against 60 of Ontario’s best public speakers and were chosen to represent the province in the National Public Speaking Competition taking place in February. The junior debaters also had a very successful evening, Rhys placed 16th overall and both Alyssa and Riaz placed in the top 30, despite being some of the youngest competitors in attendance.
