Written by a the MacLachlan Grade 3 Class:
The Grade 3 classes organized a campaign to raise money to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. We made an action plan together. We did a presentation in the Lower School Assembly, and made posters and announcements to promote donations both in classroom jars and online. Aiden suggested we have a bottle collection and donate the money we got from returning bottles. We made a flier for Aiden to show people in his neighbourhood and let all the grade 3 parents know about the event. Aiden and his family made a big sign on his truck in his driveway and a donation box. They raised $65 in bottle returns and donations. We were very excited when 2 days after the assembly we had already raised $1,190 online. Even better is the amount of money that students brought to put in the jars because this was all student action. In total we are happy to report MacLachlan College donated $1890.71! This well exceeded our goal of $1,000 and because of the government doubling the Red Cross will have $3781.42 to use to help the people in the Philippines!
We are very impressed by the generosity of the MacLachlan College families and sincerely thank you for your support.
