From May 19 to 23, the Integrated Science Club visited Canadian Light Source (CLS), the National Synchrotron facility in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with faculty members Anjuli Ahooja and Didi Iyamabo. At CLS, the group took a tour of the facility and performed an experiment on the Mid Infrared and IDEAS X-ray Beamline. They also presented their findings on a six-week long experiment conducted prior to their visit. During the experiment, students grew three types of lentils (in the biology lab) that are grown in South East Asia. The plants were treated with salt and abscisic acid to study the effects of rising sea levels and to give plant treatment suggestions that could be used for genetic engineering.
