The grade 9 class thought they were taking a swim test, based on the streams that replaced the hiking trail, or the Tough Mudder Championships, based on the quagmires they trampled through. With temperatures ranging from 9 to a moderate 16 degrees C, the frequent rain, showers and mist became a mere after thought, although getting the evening fire started took considerable work and patience. The high water levels for the creek and stream crossings, the swampy like trail, and floating footbridges that were once secure, made even basic footwork quite challenging, but Mars, Matt, Haider, Jaysen, Gracie, Moumen, Stephanie, Kevin, Mike, Ben, Chaos, Zachary, Lauren and Russ all persevered. On the final day, our MAC crew was able to march out their final 14 km leg within 5 hours and were very pleased to see their rebuilt 5m footbridge across the top of Hardy Lake pass was still intact.
