St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School (SMLS) invites families interested in a premier educational experience for their girls to their Winter Open House this Saturday, January 24th, between 10:00am and 2:00pm. SMLS is Halton’s only independent all-girls’ school, for Preschool to Grade 12, located in the heart of Olde Oakville at 1080 Linbrook Rd., Oakville, ON, and was established in 1891. In 2016, SMLS will be celebrating its 125th anniversary!
Parents of SMLS students already know that SMLS is THE school for girls; that at SMLS girls thrive and succeed in a caring, nurturing, yet academically challenging environment with experts in girls’ education at the helm, and that SMLS offers unique programs and experiences, both academic and co-curricular. The greatest testament to success lies in the fact that 100% of graduates are accepted into the post-secondary destination of their choice, many with prestigious scholarships. Janet Worboys, Dean of Academic Administration, is proud to report that close to 70% of their grads have already received early acceptances to the post-secondary institutions of their choice, including Ottawa, York, Trent, Western, Waterloo Wilfrid Laurier, York, Brock, Acadia, Dalhousie, St. Francis Xavier, Bishop’s, Mt. Allison, Rutgers, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. The due date for applications was January 14th, so our girls are really ahead of the game! This is a true testament to the strong academic program and post-secondary preparedness provided at SMLS.
