On February 4th, Rotherglen’s Grade 8 Free the Children Committee were invited to attend a presentation hosted by Craig and Mark Kielburger. They were part of an honorary presentation to hand deliver all of their collected pennies for the “We Create Change” campaign. The focus of the penny drive is to raise awareness about the need for clean water in developing communities. For every bag of pennies collected (each bag is 2500 pennies) one person in a developing nation is provided with clean water for life. Students were proud to contribute 45 bags of pennies. Collectively, the schools in attendance raised 70,000,000 pennies! Congratulations to our community for collectively making a difference and to our Grade Eight leaders for championing such a worthy cause!
