Last spring, we introduced a new annual award to honour an alumna for her outstanding dedication and accomplishments in her life’s work. Our first recipient was Melanie L. Aitken ’84, B.A. (Hons) LLB. Melanie was chosen for achieving remarkable success in her career, and was celebrated as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by Lexpert in 2004. As Competition Commissioner of the Federal Competition Bureau, Melanie made history taking on a number of business giants. And recently, she was one of 18 recognized in the category of the Public Sector Leaders Award as part of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100. Her award was presented by Mrs. Laureen Harper. Melanie’s plaque adorns the Marvelous Millies wall in our new wing.
The second Outstanding Alumna Award will be presented at the 27th Annual Alumnae Brunch on Sunday, May 5th.
